Toronto authorities are currently investigating a potential carbon monoxide incident in a midtown building that tragically resulted in the death of one woman on Tuesday morning.
First responders rushed to Wychwood Avenue near St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street following reports of a suspected leak around 9:13 a.m. Toronto Fire officials are actively working to pinpoint the source of the carbon monoxide.
Initially called in as a medical emergency, paramedics arrived on the scene, but unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead. CityNews confirmed that Toronto Fire noted a presence of natural gas within the building, prompting a request for Enbridge Gas to assess the gas levels.
Toronto police have clarified that the exact cause of the woman’s death is yet to be determined. A police spokesperson emphasized the need for further investigation by the Coroner, especially considering any potential underlying medical conditions of the deceased.
For safety measures, the building has been cleared as authorities continue to evaluate the situation.
