Authorities have apprehended a 59-year-old individual who is accused of causing a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Scarborough earlier this month.
Tragedy struck on September 5 in the Steeles Avenue East and Midland Avenue vicinity when a 24-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle and tragically lost her life.
Despite immediate assistance, the woman could not be saved and was pronounced deceased at the site of the incident.
According to reports, the woman was using a designated pedestrian crosswalk to cross the road when a 59-year-old man driving a 2014 Subaru Forester hit her.
The suspect, identified as 59-year-old Yuan-Ming Li from Toronto, has been taken into custody. He faces charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and careless driving causing death.
Li was set to make a court appearance on Wednesday.
