Tragic End: Pilot Confirmed Dead in Lillooet Plane Crash, Investigation Underway

A tragic incident unfolded in Lillooet as authorities confirm the unfortunate death of a pilot following a small plane crash close to the town’s airport.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were alerted to the crash of a bush plane shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Despite efforts by emergency responders to rescue the unconscious pilot from the aircraft, the individual passed away on-site.

The Transportation Safety Board has announced plans to dispatch a team of investigators to the scene to look into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The aircraft involved has been identified by the agency as a privately registered Bushmaster Super 22, although no further details have been disclosed.

BC Emergency Health Services reported that several ambulances, along with a helicopter, rushed to the crash site near the northern tip of Lillooet Airport’s runway. Fortunately, no patients required transportation to a hospital.
