Fatal Hit-and-Run Strikes Down Woman in Montreal’s Lachine Borough, Police Seek Driver

Montreal Police (SPVM) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible for a tragic hit-and-run incident that took place on Friday night in the Lachine neighborhood.

On 25th Ave., near Saint-Antoine Street, emergency responders were called around 7:45 p.m. to aid a woman found lying on the road. Despite being conscious at the scene, the 57-year-old woman later succumbed to her injuries. It was evident that she had been hit by a vehicle that did not stop after the collision.

SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant confirmed the hit-and-run scenario based on witness accounts. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing any relevant information to assist in the investigation.

Specialized police units in collision analysis were dispatched to the location to gather evidence and speak with witnesses, yet no arrests have been made thus far. Efforts to identify the vehicle involved in the incident are ongoing, with surveillance footage being reviewed for clues.

The SPVM team is planning to revisit the scene to gather additional information and review footage from nearby businesses’ surveillance cameras. The investigation is in progress, and the victim’s identity has not been disclosed yet.
