Montreal Faces Extended Transit Disruptions as STM Rejects Union Offer
Montrealers will have to endure ongoing transit disruptions as the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) declined a proposal from its maintenance workers’ union on Sunday. Despite the union’s efforts to move negotiations forward with a new offer, the STM has turned it down.
The union remains committed to resolving the issues and has expressed a desire to return to the bargaining table. To facilitate progress, the union president will now be directly involved in the negotiations.
Scheduled talks between the union and STM are set to resume on Monday. Until a resolution is reached, Montreal’s metro service is likely to experience continued interruptions. If the strike persists, commuters may face service disruptions until October 5. The STM advises passengers to plan ahead and stay informed by checking the website for real-time updates.
