Over the weekend, a violent incident unfolded in Surrey’s Whalley neighborhood as a man was stabbed, leading to swift action by the Surrey Police Service (SPS).
On Saturday, Sept. 27, authorities responded to distressing reports of a man with stab wounds near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 107 Avenue around 2:30 p.m. The victim, a man in his early 40s, received crucial medical aid from SPS officers to stabilize his condition before being rushed to the hospital by BCEHS. His current status remains critical as he receives medical care.
Promptly following the attack, law enforcement apprehended a suspect in close proximity to the scene.
In a subsequent update on Sunday evening, the SPS disclosed that the BC Prosecution Service had formally charged a 42-year-old individual with aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm. The accused is currently in police custody pending his upcoming court appearance scheduled for Oct. 2.
