City of Toronto Gears Up for 2026 Budget Planning

City of Toronto officials are gearing up for the upcoming year’s financial planning, kicking off the budget consultation process.

This initiative encourages public participation to determine the spending priorities for Toronto in 2026, as well as areas where potential cuts can be made.

Coun. Shelley Carroll, the chair of the budget committee, is set to kick off the budget consultations this Thursday, providing an avenue for residents to have their voices heard.

Residents have the option to attend budget consultation meetings either in-person or online, with sessions starting from Oct. 14 and continuing throughout the month. For specific dates and registration details, visit here.

Additionally, Torontonians can share their input on the budget through an online survey by Oct. 31.

Looking ahead, the first budget committee meeting for the 2026 budget is scheduled for January, followed by public presentations offering residents a chance to engage with committee members via live streaming.

Mayor Olivia Chow is then slated to unveil the proposed 2026 budget in February, with City Council set to review it at a special meeting on Feb. 10. Essential dates can be found here.
