A 17-year-old teenager from Chilliwack is under investigation for possible weapons offenses after allegedly threatening a man with a replica gun, as per the local authorities.
According to the Chilliwack RCMP, the individual targeted in the incident reported that a group of youths confronted him near the junction of Teskey Way and Promontory Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The victim claimed that one of the teenagers aimed a handgun at him and uttered threats.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the suspects attempted to flee, prompting a pursuit. Eventually, police managed to apprehend three suspects, one of whom matched the description provided by the victim.
During a search, officers discovered a replica Glock 19X handgun hidden in the waistband of the teen’s pants, with uncertainty regarding its authenticity. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the altercation.
The Chilliwack RCMP is advising charges against the teenager, including assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The young suspect has been released into the custody of a guardian and is awaiting a court appearance.
