Authorities in Mississauga have apprehended three individuals believed to be involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a woman and four children injured this past summer.
The incident, a collision between two vehicles, took place in the Erin Mills neighborhood close to Ninth Line and Erin Centre Boulevard on July 3, 2025.
Peel police were initially summoned to the scene following reports of a carjacking near a Life Time Fitness facility adjacent to Highway 403 and Winston Churchill Boulevard.
Before the collision occurred, law enforcement officials state that a black Range Rover was being pursued by the driver of a red Ford Mustang. Eyewitnesses reported both vehicles driving recklessly and at excessive speeds.
The black Range Rover ultimately crashed into a red Honda Civic carrying a woman and four children aged between 9 and 12. Subsequently, all five occupants were rushed to a trauma center with severe injuries.
Authorities have disclosed that two of the injured children are related to the woman, while the other pair are friends of the children involved.
The occupants of the Range Rover, identified as 18-year-old Daijuan Buchanan from Brampton and 22-year-old Jahzi Smith from Mississauga, allegedly fled the scene on foot without attending to the injured victims.
Buchanan faces multiple charges, including robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failure to stop after an accident, and violation of a release order.
Smith is also charged with robbery and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Both individuals were detained for a bail hearing.
Additionally, 28-year-old Jashanpreet Singh from Mississauga, the purported driver of the red Ford Mustang, has been apprehended and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He has been released with conditions to appear in court at a later date.
