Transit Bus Strikes Pedestrian in Surrey, Sparking Safety Concerns

A pedestrian in Surrey was critically injured when struck by a bus early Saturday morning.

According to the Surrey Police Service (SPS), the incident occurred near the intersection of King George Boulevard and Highway 10 around 5 a.m. Officers responded to the scene to find the pedestrian had been hit by a TransLink bus.

The injured individual was promptly taken to the hospital by the BC Emergency Health Services. Notably, the bus involved was not in service at the time of the accident.

In the aftermath, the driver of the bus is actively cooperating with authorities during the ongoing investigation. The SPS Collision Investigation Unit has launched an inquiry into determining the circumstances that led to the collision.
