Law enforcement authorities in Montreal and Ontario collaborated to seize a total of 32 kilograms of cocaine in a significant crackdown on drug trafficking operations linking Montreal and Toronto.
According to the SPVM, a series of searches were carried out last week in various locations including Toronto, Montreal, Terrebonne, and Longueuil. In addition to the substantial cocaine seizure, police also discovered and confiscated one kilogram of crack cocaine, a firearm, close to half a million dollars in cash, and various pieces of incriminating evidence.
The joint operation led to the arrest of four individuals across both provinces on September 30, with assistance provided by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police.
Among the arrested individuals was Guillaume Duchesne, a 39-year-old who appeared in court on October 1. Duchesne is facing multiple charges including drug possession and trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, and violating a prohibition order.
While Wilrmin Vasquez Castillo, aged 35, remains in custody, the two women, aged 32 and 38, have been released pending further investigation.
Authorities disclosed that the investigation, which commenced in June, revealed that the Toronto area served as a distribution hub for the illegal drugs, which were then sold at inflated prices in the Greater Montreal region.
