The police seek the public’s assistance in finding an individual following charges against two suspects for extortion-related crimes in British Columbia.
Abjeet Kingra, 26, and Vikram Sharma, 24, were charged by the BC Prosecution Service on Monday. The Lower Mainland District Joint Force Operation (JFO) has accused both individuals of firearm discharge with intent and arson in connection with 2024 incidents.
The investigation by JFO began after a shooting and arson at the residence of a person who had received extortion threats in Surrey in August 2024. While Kingra is already in custody for a separate incident, Sharma is currently evading capture.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Sharma, describing him as 5’9” (174 cm), 181 lbs (82 kg), with black hair and brown eyes.
Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound emphasized, “These charges demonstrate our dedication to the community. With a specialized task force and increased resources, we are better equipped to pursue multiple suspect groups and progress investigations for additional charges.”
The JFO urges anyone with information to reach out to the authorities or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
