A man was arrested by Durham police for a brutal assault that left another man in critical condition. The incident took place on Oct. 6 at around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Ritson Road North and Taunton Road East. Responding officers discovered a male victim who had been severely injured.
According to investigators, the victim was attacked by the suspect from behind while crossing the street, in what appeared to be an unprovoked assault. The victim was rushed to a trauma center in Toronto and remains in critical condition.
The suspect, identified as Dwayne Wallen, 33, from Oshawa, was apprehended by the police and charged with aggravated assault. He was detained for a bail hearing. Authorities have confirmed that there is no known connection between the victim and the suspect.
