Laval authorities are currently probing a recent apartment building fire that broke out in the Chomedey neighborhood late on Tuesday evening.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Sainte-Judes Street, a distress call reporting the fire was made to emergency services.
“The Laval Police, along with fire department units, swiftly responded to the situation,” confirmed officials. “Residents were promptly evacuated by the officers.”
The Laval Firefighters Association detailed the efforts of personnel who battled the flames on the building’s second floor, diligently searching for any individuals in harm’s way.
“Firefighters were also vigilant in containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to the neighboring roof,” stated the association.
Authorities revealed that one individual from a unit in the building was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
“An investigation will be launched to ascertain the fire’s origins in light of the serious injuries sustained by one resident,” mentioned the Laval Police. “The extent of the damage will also be thoroughly evaluated.”
