Thief Snatches SUV with Terrified Dog Inside from Port Moody Street

A heartwarming reunion took place this week as a family was joyfully reunited with their beloved pet following a vehicle theft incident in Port Moody.

According to the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD), a dog was left alone inside a running SUV on Barnet Highway near Mary Street on Tuesday morning. An unidentified individual in a white hoodie then allegedly entered the vehicle and drove off with the dog on board.

The victim assisted in locating the stolen vehicle in South Coquitlam, where police discovered it parked and unoccupied.

Fortunately, a kind-hearted passerby discovered the dog on a bustling street in the same vicinity and promptly brought her to a nearby animal hospital.

PMPD confirmed on Thursday that the dog was unharmed and has been happily reunited with her family.

Although the dog is back safe at home, authorities have confiscated the vehicle for forensic analysis.

Individuals who have any information or dashcam footage related to the stolen blue Hyundai Santa Fe are urged to reach out to the police.
