Toronto firefighters swiftly responded to a natural gas incident at a North York residential building, causing evacuations and medical assessments on Tuesday morning.
The emergency response team rushed to 68 Esther Shiner Boulevard following reports of a potential explosion in a penthouse unit situated on the building’s 22nd floor at around 9:18 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found no visible flames but took precautionary measures by partially evacuating the building. Gas supply to the premises was promptly cut off as crews worked to secure the area.
Around six individuals were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel, although the severity of their injuries remains uncertain.
Preliminary findings suggest that construction work might have been underway within or in close proximity to the building at the time of the incident, but the exact connection is still under investigation.
