A man has been charged by Toronto police for allegedly pouring a mysterious substance on an individual during a protest at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) on October 7, 2025.
According to investigators, both the suspect and the victim were present at the TMU demonstration when the suspect unexpectedly approached the victim and poured the substance on them without any apparent reason.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene, and fortunately, no severe injuries were reported.
Subsequently, on Sunday, October 12, law enforcement officers identified the suspect at another demonstration near Overlea Boulevard and Don Mills Road. The authorities arrested 28-year-old Syed Raza from Toronto.
Raza is charged with assault with a weapon and is set to appear in court on November 28, 2025.
