Peel Regional Police have apprehended a 44-year-old man who was involved in a hate-fueled incident at Chinguacousy Park earlier this month. The incident, which took place on Oct. 11, saw the man verbally assaulting a victim with racial slurs and even attempting to physically harm the individual with a replica firearm.
Fortunately, the victim managed to restrain the perpetrator, although they suffered minor injuries in the process. Prompt police intervention led to the arrest of the suspect at the scene.
The arrested individual has been identified as Robert Keith McNally, 44, with no fixed address. He faces multiple charges, including possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, breach of probation, assault, and mischief under $5,000. McNally remains in custody pending a bail hearing, with the Peel Regional Police Hate Crime Unit overseeing the investigation.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information on similar occurrences to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
