Shots fired at Surrey home believed extortion-related: SPS

Police are investigating after a home in Surrey was the target of gunfire shortly after midnight Wednesday.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it responded to a residence on 87A Avenue near 134 Street around 12:40 a.m.

“Police quickly confirmed that none of the occupants of the home were injured. The residence was damaged, and bullet casings were observed outside,” said an SPS statement.

Police believe the shooting is related to a wave of extortion south of the Fraser River.

The SPS Extortion Response Team has taken over investigating.
