A young boy from Calgary was saved from a near-drowning incident in a river in British Columbia and is now undergoing recovery in the hospital. Unfortunately, his family has shared that his lungs have suffered significant damage.
Paul-Angelo Warren, a brave nine-year-old, was enjoying a swim and dive in the scenic Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3. However, his playful afternoon turned frightening when he failed to resurface after a dive underwater.
Thankfully, quick-acting beachgoers noticed the situation and rushed to his aid, pulling him out of the river just minutes after he went missing. According to a statement from the RCMP, the strong current of the river had pushed Paul-Angelo against fallen debris, where he was trapped until he was rescued and administered CPR on the shore.
Authorities suspect that the boy may have been submerged in the water for up to 10 minutes before being rescued. Paul-Angelo is currently receiving medical care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his devoted family.
In a heartfelt interview, his mother Maria Warren expressed her constant presence by her son’s bedside, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
