A woman was injured in a fire at a homeless encampment in Montreal’s Saint-Henri neighbourhood Monday morning.
Montreal Fire Department (SIM) said they received a 911 call just after 5:30 a.m. about a fire at the encampment near Cazelais and St Rémi Streets, adjacent to the Ville-Marie Expressway.
Crews managed to extinguish the fire quickly upon arrival, according to SIM Division Chief Martin Guilbault.
A woman was injured in the fire and was taken to hospital by the paramedics from Urgences-Santé. The identity of the woman nor details about her condition were available.
As of 8:20 a.m., the cause of the fire is still under investigation and Montreal police wasn’t involved.
