Catherine Fournier returned to work Tuesday night, attending a municipal council meeting just 10 days after giving birth, with her newborn son in her arms.
The mayor of Longueuil joined the session by videoconference, introducing baby Henri at the start of the meeting.

“I’m really proud to be with you tonight, with Henri, 10 days old,” she said, noting it was his first council meeting “and certainly not the last.”
Fournier used the moment to highlight improvements to work-family balance that allow elected officials to participate remotely, making it easier for new parents to remain active in their roles.
Earlier in the day, she shared on social media that her son was “very ready for his first city council tonight.” In a photo, Henri wore a onesie reading, “My mom is the mother of Longueuil,” a likely gift from colleagues.
The mayor had announced his birth on April 19, drawing strong public reaction online. Less than two weeks later, Henri has already made his first appearance at city hall, virtually.
