The West Island Blues Festival is celebrating its 23rd anniversary, continuing its tradition of supporting local charities while promoting blues music across Montreal’s West Island.
Organizers say the festival has donated nearly $600,000 to community groups over the past two decades. This year’s beneficiaries include the West Island Women’s Shelter, ABOVAS, the West Island Black Community Association, Literacy Unlimited, Community Perspective on Mental Health, and the West Island Mission.
The festival will kick off May 21 with a VIP indoor concert at the Pierrefonds Cultural Centre. Tickets are priced at $150 and include a cocktail reception, dinner and live performances.
A series of free outdoor shows will follow throughout the summer, with concerts scheduled in Dollard-des-Ormeaux on July 4, in Dorval on Aug. 8, and in Pointe-Claire Village on Aug. 29.
