In a New York courtroom, a 46-year-old man, Luciano Frattolin, was found guilty of second-degree murder in the tragic death of his nine-year-old daughter from Montreal. He was also convicted of attempting to conceal his daughter’s body. The emotional scene saw some family members break down in sobs and cling to each other upon hearing the verdict.
Throughout the trial, Frattolin maintained a neutral expression, shaking his head slightly as the jury deliberated for about an hour. Despite his demeanor, he was eventually led away in handcuffs. Reflecting on the case, one of Frattolin’s attorneys, Eric Weyand, described it as challenging.
Melina Frattolin’s body was discovered last year in a remote area of New York, concealed under a fallen tree with a large rock on her chest. The grim find came after Frattolin reported his daughter missing during a trip in the United States. Initially claiming she had been kidnapped, Frattolin’s story unraveled as investigators uncovered the truth, leading to his arrest for the murder.
Frattolin is set to be sentenced on Oct. 14 and will remain in custody as he faces the consequences of his heinous act.
