Hydro-Québec tweaks logo as Canadiens face Lightning in playoff series

/ Montreal News / May 1, 2026

As the Montreal Canadiens look to close out their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 at home Friday, Hydro-Québec is making its team allegiance clear.

In a video posted to social media, the utility says it has modified its logo by removing the lightning bolt at the end of the “Q” to avoid any confusion about supporting the opposing team.

“We were made aware that part of our logo could be misinterpreted this week. We’re setting the record straight,” Hydro-Québec said in the post.

A post shared by Hydro-Québec (@hydroquebec)

The video, shared a few hours before the Canadiens defeated the Lightning in Game 5 of their first-round NHL playoff series, shows the logo being edited to “remove the end that you don’t like these days,” while someone hums the Hockey Night in Canada theme.

The Canadiens responded in the comments, saying the updated version is “much better.”

Hydro-Québec has also updated the logo on its Instagram and TikTok profiles.

Montreal leads the best-of-seven series three games to two heading into Friday’s matchup at home.
