CrossFit Okanagan says it has revoked a man’s membership after a disturbing incident was caught on video last week.
In the video, which has been circulating widely online, the man can be seen yelling racist slurs and swearing at a couple after an alleged road-rage incident.
The man is seen wearing a pink t-shirt that says “Grizzly Games,” which is an annual competition organized by CrossFit Okanagan.
“A video circulated this weekend showing an individual in a Grizzly Games shirt directing racial slurs at a local family,” the gym posted on social media.
“This person is not part of our staff or organizing team. But our event team is on that shirt, and we take that seriously.”
On Monday, the gym posted that the man’s membership was immediately revoked.
“He is no longer welcome at CrossFit Okanagan or Okanagan Grizzly Games in any capacity.”
Dan Albas, the Conservative MP for Okanagan Lake West-South Kelowna, said on social media that the video of the incident was hard to watch.
“A road rage incident turned into an outright racist attack on a family — grandparents and their grandson — in broad daylight in downtown Kelowna,” Albas said.
“There is no version of Canada where this is acceptable.”
