Delta fire crews are on the scene of a blaze at a large barn, according to Deputy Chief of Operations Tim Ipsen.
There were reports of livestock in the barn, located on 104th and Ladner Trunk Road, but these appear to have been evacuated, Ipsen says.
“Basically just doing our initial kind of knock-down, or kind of more of a defensive type of strategy and just knocking the fire down now,” he said shortly after 3:30 p.m.
“It is in the process of being extinguished, but not fully quite yet.”
No injuries have been reported, he says.
The road is closed on 104 Street between 59 Avenue and Ladner Trunk Road. The fire is also causing traffic delays on the Alex Fraser Bridge southbound and on Highway 99 through Delta between the 80th Street offramp and the Ladner Trunk Road Overpass.
