The driver of a pick-up truck has died after a single-vehicle crash in Delta Friday morning, police say.
Officers were called to 88 Street near 52 Avenue around 5:30 a.m. after a report of a truck driving off the roadway into a water-filled ditch, the Delta Police Department says.
“Unfortunately, the sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene,” it said.
“The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.”
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says it was called to the scene shortly after 5 a.m.
“One ambulance with primary care paramedics and an ambulance with advanced care paramedics attended the scene,” said BCEHS public information officer Brian Twaites.
“No patients were transported to the hospital.”
Photos taken at the scene show the tail end of the truck visible above the ditch.
Investigators will remain in the area for several hours collecting evidence, according to police.
Anyone with information, including dash cam footage around Burns Drive and 88 Street between 4 and 5:30 a.m., is asked to call Delta Police at 604-946-4411.
