Police in Langford investigate sexual assault involving youth victim

On June 9, around 3 p.m., near Jacklin Road and Station Avenue in Langford, a female youth was approached by an unknown man at a bus stop.

The suspect engaged the girl in a short conversation before sexually assaulting her, West Shore RCMP say.

There were no physical injuries, but police say that there is significant emotional and psychological impact on a victim when sexual violence occurs.

At this time, no other similar reports have been made according to police.

The suspect is described as being between 30 and 35 years old, average build, about 5’8”, having a brown “mullet” style hair with light ends and short facial hair.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants with bright green numbers on each knee, black running shoes with while soles and laces and an orange wrist band.

“Investigators are working diligently to identify and locate the suspect involved in this incident. We are asking anyone who may recognize this description, have CCTV in the area, or who has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward and speak with police,” said A/Sgt. Meghan Groulx with the Serious Crime Unit.

“We understand incidents of this nature are highly impactful and concerning for the victim and community. Identifying the person responsible remains our top priority and investigators are following up on a number of leads.”

Police are canvassing the area.

RCMP ask that people check their home surveillance or dash cam footage for June 9, between the hours of noon and 4 p.m., and contact police if they have captured anything.
