Technical Safety BC looks into ‘electrical’ incident at waterpark in Cultus Lake

Technical Safety is now investigating an incident at Cultus Lake waterpark that injured 12 youths, the RCMP says.

All children were transported to the hospital by ambulance, while two were airlifted.

In an update on Tuesday, Cst. Bradley Holditch says that the public safety office is now on scene, trying to determine what led to what the management of the park calls an ‘electrical’ incident.

“We are working closely with Technical Safety BC and based on what is known at this stage, there doesn’t appear to be criminality,” Holditch said.

“All avenues are being investigated. The investigation remains ongoing.”

He says that the focus is on understanding what exactly happened by collecting evidence, obtaining statements, and watching video surveillance.

Holditch could not confirm if any of the victims got electrocuted. “I can’t comment on that,” he said.
