A child was found unconscious in the swimming pool of a home in the Charlesbourg borough of Quebec City on Thursday evening.
The child’s life is considered to be in danger.
Quebec City police (SPVQ) provided few details about the incident, but stated that 911 received a call at 8:25 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, police officers performed resuscitation manoeuvres.
The child was then rushed to hospital under police escort to “maximize the speed” of the journey.
Late on Thursday, doctors said they were still fearing for the child’s life.
SPVQ investigators have been deployed to the scene to try to clarify the circumstances leading up to the incident.
