Early morning altercation in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough resulted in a 26-year-old man being stabbed, with a 29-year-old suspect now in police custody. Montreal police reported that the victim, who was taken to the hospital following the incident near the intersection of Berri Street and Mont-Royal Avenue, is now in stable condition.
The incident occurred following an escalation of a conflict, leading to an altercation involving multiple individuals. The suspect allegedly used a bladed weapon to stab the victim in the upper body. Despite sustaining significant injuries, the victim’s condition is no longer life-threatening.
Shortly after the incident, authorities apprehended the 29-year-old suspect a short distance from the scene. The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to be questioned by investigators at a detention center.
Police investigators and forensic technicians examined the scene overnight and have reopened the crime scene for further investigation.
