“Embark on Quebec’s Ultimate Cheese Adventure: Explore Local Delights Along the Famous Cheese Route!”

Quebec’s Cheese Route: A Delicious Journey Through the Province

Cheese lovers in Quebec can now embark on a flavorful adventure across the province to explore its diverse cheese factories, all thanks to the newly launched Cheese Route by the Quebec Dairy Industry Council (CILQ) earlier this summer.

The primary goal of this initiative, as explained by Charles Langlois, the general manager of CILQ, goes beyond just supporting local businesses and showcasing Quebec’s cheese industry. It aims to uncover the stories and people behind the delectable cheeses that grace our tables.

With 15 meticulously curated routes leading to over 70 Quebec cheese shops, the Cheese Route website offers a seamless experience for travelers, guiding them through a captivating journey with pre-set itineraries accessible via Google Maps.

Marie-Chantal Houde, co-owner of Fromagerie Nouvelle-France, shares insights as a member of CILQ’s board, highlighting the importance of promoting both large industrial players and independent artisans within the cheese industry.

Celebrating inclusivity, the Cheese Route features various cheese factories, including those like Nouvelle-France, known for exceptional cheeses made from sheep’s milk. Despite previous exclusions from certain platforms, the Route now acts as a platform for diverse cheese producers to gain visibility and recognition.

The project not only celebrates Quebec’s rich cheese heritage, boasting around 1,200 different cheeses, but also aligns with the growing trends of agritourism and supporting local businesses.

As the Cheese Route continues to evolve, it presents an opportunity for tourists and locals alike to immerse themselves in the unique flavors and stories that define Quebec’s rich cheese-making tradition.
