Gas Prices in Montreal Rise Amid U.S.-Iran Conflict Tensions
Gas prices have been on the rise in Montreal, approaching the $2 per litre mark, in the midst of escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
On Monday, many local gas stations were charging 195.9 cents per litre, marking an increase of nearly five cents since Friday when the price stood at 191.1 cents, according to data from the Regie Essence Québec website.
Throughout the month, prices have surged by more than 20 cents, leading experts to forecast a potential climb to $2.10 per litre by early August.
This surge in gas prices correlates with a spike in global oil prices, which have surged by almost 15% to reach US$82.62 per barrel on Monday, since the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran concluded over a week ago.
