Brampton Woman Slapped with 40 Charges in Explosive Rental Scam Spree

A woman from Brampton has been charged with nearly 40 offenses related to rental fraud, Peel police revealed.

According to authorities, the suspect is accused of advertising various properties, including basement apartments, for rent on social media platforms from May 2025 to February 2026.

Prospective tenants allegedly signed rental agreements and sent deposits for the first and last month’s rent. However, upon arrival at the properties, many found that the rentals were unavailable, leaving them stranded without accommodation and out of pocket. Peel police stated that there were a total of 17 incidents, resulting in losses exceeding $60,000, with victims receiving neither their promised lodgings nor refunds.

Savreet Kaur, 27, was apprehended on July 13 and is now facing 38 counts of fraud over $5,000, along with one count of obstructing police. She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
