A revised contract agreement has been reached between the Coast Mountain Bus Company and transit operators throughout Metro Vancouver, marking a significant step forward in their negotiations.
Both the union and the company have officially confirmed the new deal, which follows the initial proposed agreement reached on June 22. This development comes after union members, represented by Unifor Locals 111 and 2200, voted to reject the first deal. However, in a statement released on June 30, the unions emphasized that they were focused on addressing the concerns of their members and were not immediately resorting to any job actions.
In the interim, discussions have been ongoing between the parties, facilitated by mediator Trevor Sones, to iron out the details of the revised agreement.
The Coast Mountain Bus Company plays a crucial role in operating over 96% of the bus services in Metro Vancouver, making this new contract deal a significant milestone for both the company and transit operators.
