A young driver, aged 21, is facing serious consequences after being caught speeding in Laval during the early hours of Monday.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) reported that officers from the Laval highway patrol intercepted the driver traveling north on Highway 15 at an alarming speed of 208 km/h in an area where the speed limit is only 100 km/h.
As a result of the reckless behavior, the driver received a hefty fine of $1,993 and was slapped with 24 demerit points for exceeding the speed limit. Additionally, their driver’s license was suspended for a week as a penalty.
The SQ emphasized that driving at excessive speeds continues to be a major contributing factor to fatal accidents on Quebec roads.
