Teen Suspect: 15-Year-Old Wanted for Murder in Deadly Hamilton Shooting

Police in Hamilton have been granted legal permission to reveal the identity of a 15-year-old teenager linked to a tragic double-shooting incident in Stoney Creek.

The incident unfolded on Candlewood Drive in east Hamilton in the early hours of July 29, resulting in the fatal shooting of two young males. The victims, identified as 18-year-old Abdulmalek Shibli and 16-year-old Afef Binafif, both from Hamilton, succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

Authorities suspect the shooting may have stemmed from a prior altercation involving bear spray at a residence in Hamilton’s east end. According to investigators, about six individuals were present at the scene of the shooting on 191 Candlewood Drive, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

In a recent statement, police disclosed that 15-year-old Rahziel Martin from Hamilton has been identified as the prime suspect in the case. Martin is wanted on charges of two counts of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder with a firearm.

Police have been granted permission to release Martin’s name and photograph until August 4 or upon his arrest. They are appealing to Martin to surrender himself to the authorities, cautioning that individuals aiding him may also face legal consequences.
