“Family Fun Kickoff: National Bank Open Sets Exciting Prelude with Special Weekend Before Tournament!”

Montreal families gathered at the Tennis Canada-hosted IGA Family Weekend for a day of free tennis activities on Saturday. Kids had the chance to engage with the tournament’s top players up close, inspiring a love for the sport.

Julie Gravel, Tennis Canada’s marketing director, emphasized the importance of making tennis accessible and encouraging youth participation. The event offered mini tennis games and opportunities for young fans to immerse themselves in the game.

Parents and children alike enjoyed the unique experience of witnessing the stars of the tournament in action. For attendees like Jameson Cronin and his father from Ottawa, being able to observe the players up close added an extra layer of excitement to the day.

Don Bui, another parent at the event, shared his joy in passing down his love for tennis to his children and witnessing the world’s top players practice just feet away.

While tennis was the highlight, families also relished in meeting mascots, engaging in face painting, yoga sessions, giant bubbles, and other fun activities together.

This year’s National Bank Open promises an expanded 12-day format, allowing for more players and matches than ever before. The tournament kicks off on Sunday, with the final scheduled for August 13.
