Montreal residents in Saint-Leonard were jolted awake overnight by a gunshot, prompting an investigation by the city’s police.
The Montreal police (SPVM) responded to a 911 call just before 1 a.m. about a gunshot heard in the vicinity of Liénart and La Dauversière streets.
Upon arrival, officers found no victims or suspects but discovered a shell casing on the ground. SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils stated that preliminary information suggests the gunshot may have come from a moving vehicle that quickly left the scene.
To gather more clues, a security perimeter has been established, and authorities will be scrutinizing surveillance footage from the area.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
