The Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) has taken additional actions to ensure public safety as the Bradley Creek Wildfire intensifies its threat to the picturesque Head of the Lake area.
Expanding their evacuation orders, OKIB has now mandated evacuations for the region north of Bonneau Road and south of Highway 97. Additionally, residents residing across the lake along Head of the Lake Road are also included in this evacuation directive.
In response to the escalating danger, authorities have ordered the immediate evacuation of properties along Hawhola Road up to the OKIB IR 1 boundary.
Those affected by the evacuation orders are being advised to head to designated evacuation reception centers tailored to their locations.
Residents residing north of Head of the Lake are instructed to make their way to the safety of Kal Tire Place in Vernon, situated at 3445 43rd Ave. Those located south of the affected area are directed to report to the Westbank Lions Club at 2466 Main St. in West Kelowna.
Emergency officials emphasize the urgency of the situation, urging everyone within the evacuation zone to depart promptly and adhere to instructions from authorities.
