Flight School Elite Makes History Winning NFL Flag Summer Championships
Flight School Elite, a youth flag football team from Montreal, has achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the 2026 NFL Flag Summer Championships in Indianapolis. The U15 team, comprising talented athletes from Greater Montreal, conquered Mexico in the International Division final and triumphed over the U.S. Division champion from Miami in a thrilling overtime showdown to secure the championship title after an intense four days of competition from July 23 to 26.
This victory at the prestigious tournament, which featured elite co-ed teams from 13 countries across five continents, underscores the rapid growth of flag football as it gears up for its debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The brainchild behind Flight School, Jamil Springer, saw the championship not just as a triumph but as a significant milestone for the program he established in 2017 to provide opportunities for youth through football. Initially starting with football camps for a handful of children, Flight School has now expanded to serve between 600 and 700 youngsters, making a positive impact on communities in LaSalle and southwest Montreal.
While Springer and his team had never envisioned winning an international title when they began, their dedication and hard work have propelled them to unprecedented success. The recent championship win is a testament to their commitment to empowering young people through sports.
