The way you sit can impact your mood and decision-making abilities, a new study reveals.
Researchers at McGill University in Montreal found that posture plays a role in how we feel and act. Lead author Jorge Armony noted, “Though the effects were subtle and in a controlled environment, they emphasize the body’s impact on our emotions and actions.”
In the study, 200 participants were split into two groups: one group used a tablet on an adjustable stand, while the other group had the tablet on a low desk, making them hunch over.
Following this setup, participants engaged in a risk-taking test. Surprisingly, those with better posture took more risks and felt more confident in their decisions.
Armony suggests that this study prompts us to consider how our surroundings can subtly influence our mood and behavior.
