Ontario authorities are on the lookout for a driver who critically injured a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident on an Hwy. 410 off-ramp in Brampton. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, prompting a swift response from officers of the Mississauga detachment and Peel paramedics.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m., emergency services were alerted to the scene where a person had been struck on the northbound 410 off-ramp leading to Steeles Avenue. The injured individual was rushed to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries.
According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), efforts are underway to locate and engage with the driver responsible for the incident, who failed to stop at the scene. The suspected vehicle in question is believed to be a Jeep Cherokee, possibly bearing noticeable damage to its front bumper grill and hood.
In the aftermath of the collision, the off-ramp was shut down for an extensive investigation, causing disruptions in the early morning hours before reopening at approximately 4 a.m.
