Maple Ridge Authorities Collaborate to Locate Aggressive Bear Roaming City Streets
The Maple Ridge RCMP is teaming up with the B.C. Conservation Officer Service (COS) in a joint effort to track down a potentially dangerous bear within the city.
On Sunday afternoon, law enforcement officers were spotted in the vicinity of 123rd Ave. and 240th St., equipped with dart guns as they combed the area for the elusive animal.
Reports indicate that the bear exhibited aggressive behavior towards a young girl in the neighborhood, although specifics of the incident have not been disclosed yet.
Residents residing in the affected area are advised to stay indoors while the search operation is ongoing. In the event of a bear sighting, individuals are strongly encouraged to promptly notify either the RCMP or the COS and refrain from approaching the animal.
BC Emergency Health Services has confirmed to CityNews that one person had to be airlifted to a hospital due to the bear-related incident.
