Inspired by a simple question – What if more people encouraged each other every day? – Montreal resident Jean-Philippe Marier embarked on a mission named “ACT4LOVE.” His aim is clear: to spread positivity through acts of encouragement and collectively achieve one billion such acts by 2040.
Marier describes ACT4LOVE as an adventure in promoting encouragement among individuals. He emphasizes that while the goal is ambitious, the true essence lies in the countless heartwarming stories that will emerge from this collective effort.
Driven by a passion for psychology and self-improvement, Marier has been actively engaging in acts of encouragement for over 1,600 consecutive days, regardless of any obstacles. His journey began in February 2022, spurred by the isolation experienced by many during the pandemic.
To date, Marier has performed over 52,000 acts of encouragement across more than 50 countries, eliciting awe and disbelief from onlookers. However, he firmly believes that the impact multiplies when people come together to spread positivity.
Participation in the mission is not limited by geographical boundaries. Individuals can contribute by connecting through social media or utilizing the ACT4LOVE app, where virtual encouragement cards can be shared or custom ones can be created afresh.
Marier’s initiative commenced with offering “free hugs” to strangers, evolving into exchanges of high-fives and compliment cards leading to uplifting interactions. His ultimate vision is to make encouraging others a natural habit, highlighting the transformative power of both receiving and giving encouragement.
Through this endeavor, Marier seeks to inspire a widespread culture of upliftment and support. He believes that by encouraging others, individuals not only bring joy to recipients but also undergo personal transformation, shaping a path towards a more connected and compassionate world.
