Two separate incidents of armed assaults took place on Tuesday evening in downtown Montreal resulting in injuries to a 16-year-old teenager and a 36-year-old man. The authorities have confirmed that the incidents are not connected.
In the first incident, a 36-year-old man was discovered severely injured by a sharp weapon on De Bullion Street near René-Lévesque Boulevard in the Ville-Marie borough. Despite being conscious when help arrived, the man was rushed to the hospital and remains in serious condition as of Wednesday morning.
Later that evening around 10:15 p.m., a 16-year-old teenager sustained injuries to the upper body from a sharp object at the intersection of Square Dorchester and Peel streets in the same borough. The teenager was also hospitalized for serious injuries, but his life is not considered to be at risk.
The Montreal police, SPVM, have initiated investigations into both incidents, although the details surrounding the events are still unclear as of early Wednesday. SPVM spokesperson, Manuel Couture, stated that based on initial information, the authorities do not believe the two incidents are linked. No arrests have been made in connection with either case at this time.
