A lucky resident of Chaudière-Appalaches in Quebec struck it rich with a winning scratch ticket from the Célébration 2026 game, joining the ranks of millionaires.
Dany Veilleux, the fortunate winner, only realized his newfound wealth nearly eight months after the draw when he decided to check his ticket. It turned out his ticket was one of the five worth $1,000,000 each from the draw held on January 11.
Veilleux had purchased the ticket back in December 2025 as a treat for himself but had completely forgotten about it until recently.
“When I saw the amount flash on the screen, I initially thought it was $100,000,” Veilleux shared.
It serves as a timely reminder from Loto-Québec that winners need to claim their prizes within 365 days of the draw to avoid missing out on their windfall.
