“FIFA World Cup Sparks Economic Boom, BC Business House Reveals Lasting Prosperity”

BC Business House, a series of events focusing on business opportunities held alongside the FIFA World Cup 2026, has proven to be a catalyst for attracting investments and forging new international trade partnerships, as announced by the provincial government.

A record number of over 2,300 attendees from 25 different countries participated in the BC Business House events, contributing to the expansion of international markets in line with British Columbia’s Look West initiative.

Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Adrian Dix, the acting minister of jobs and economic growth, emphasized the importance of building enduring economic ties with global leaders and investors during uncertain times.

The BC Business House events, coinciding with seven World Cup matches hosted at BC Place, brought together government officials, industry captains, foreign investors, and visiting delegations to explore avenues for trade, investment, and collaboration.

Focusing on key sectors identified for growth under the Look West strategy such as technology, life sciences, mining, energy, agriculture, tourism, and trade infrastructure, these gatherings aimed to showcase British Columbia’s strengths and potential for future partnerships.

Vancouver’s global prominence during the FIFA World Cup 2026 was leveraged through BC Business House to connect business leaders, investors, and international delegates, fostering meaningful interactions and opportunities for cooperation.

Positive feedback from attendees, with 91.5% rating their experience favorably, highlights the success of the event in establishing new business connections and enhancing perceptions of British Columbia as a favorable business destination.

Acknowledging the strategic importance of hosting major international events, Anne Kang, the minister of tourism, arts, culture, and sport, emphasized the lasting benefits of showcasing the province’s natural beauty, hospitality, and commitment to sustainable development.

The province’s overarching goal with BC Business House was to boost exports to non-U.S. markets, attract private investments, and align with the broader Look West strategy to strengthen British Columbia’s position as a global economic player.
