“Echoes of Love and Loss: Montreal Widow Recalls Husband’s Heartrending Final Call on 9/11, 25 Years On”

Two decades and a half have passed since the tragic events of 9/11, but for Kimmy Chedel, the memory of her husband, Frank Doyle, lingers on. Their love story began in New York, a tale of love at first sight that led to a life filled with laughter and two beautiful children.

Chedel vividly recalls the last moments she shared with Doyle on that fateful day. As news of the World Trade Center attack spread, her world crumbled. The phone call with Doyle, trapped on the 87th floor of the South Tower, remains etched in her memory. Despite his bravery and love for his family, Doyle’s final call came mere minutes before the tower collapsed.

The aftermath brought years of heartache for Chedel, as she received fragmented news about her husband’s remains. Raising their children alone, she silently carried the weight of her grief, finding solace in keeping their memories alive.

Despite the immense loss, Chedel found strength in honoring Doyle’s legacy. Establishing Team Frank Africa in Montreal, she ensured that his passion for sports lives on, supporting schools in South Africa in his name.

As she reflects on their journey, Chedel remains determined to preserve the essence of who Doyle was, ensuring that their children grow up knowing the love and courage that defined their father.
